May Therapy, PLLC
My path started by working in alternative high schools, and then as a career counselor in management and business development roles for a few universities and military populations. I have over 18 years of experience working in education, career development, and mental health. My experience growing up in Flint, Michigan, and being the first in my family to attend college, shaped how I view and overcome challenges.
I specialize in support for working professionals, especially teachers, nurses, and students with anxiety or depression who are struggling in their careers, education, or relationships. Many feel stuck, burnt out, angry, and overwhelmed. Chronic stress makes it hard for them to connect with their instructors, bosses, and peers. Time management is an issue and constantly trying to keep up. Some may prefer to be alone, even though it leads to ruminating over traumatic work experiences and substance use. My clients have demanding jobs and/or class schedules, and are highly trained and accustomed to solving problems. However, no one is immune to the long-term effects of stress and trauma.
I have over 18 years working in counseling, higher education, and career development. My communication style is warm, yet solution-focused, often encouraging you to think from the end, build your resilience, and focus on the future. Some clients get what they need to make a positive change in 6-8 sessions. Others enjoy my long-term support to address trauma.
