Hello, I'm Dr. Clifford (please feel free to call me Heather!). I bring a compassionate and a caring approach to therapy that is trauma informed and queer affirming.

The transition to young adulthood can be a time of major changes, successes, and disappointments. The pressure of being a young adult and figuring out "the future" is often overwhelming and anxiety provoking. You may be questioning your values, sexuality, relationships and career aspirations. I specialize in helping college students explore the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are getting in the way of them living a life that is in line with their values. Through our work together I can help you clarify what is important to you and develop skills to help you live the life you choose.

I use evidenced based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help support you become present and participate in the important parts of life. I often incorporate mindfulness and compassion focused exercises during sessions.

I am committed to unlearning oppressive biases and beliefs including but not limited to white supremacy, racism, ableism, homophobia, and fatphobia. I believe that these systems of oppression hugely impact our mental health and come to play in the therapy room. I am always open to discuss and explore these topics.
