Ingrid Oliansky
What inspires me to work in the field of mental health care is my strong belief that it’s never too late to make a change in life. My own journey to becoming an LMFT began in my mid-30s, which gives me a personal understanding of the transformative power of growth and change at any stage. Since being licensed in 2010, I have a special interest in the following issues; ADHD, Bipolar, Anxiety, Depression, LGBTQIA, women’s issues and life transitions. I have worked in diverse settings, including community clinics, schools, group practices, and my own private practice, which has reinforced my passion for helping others navigate their own paths to healing and personal development.
To ensure that clients feel heard and understood in sessions, I work collaboratively with them to address the issues that are preventing them from living authentic and satisfying lives. I view the client as the expert in the room, and my role is to support and guide them in finding solutions to their challenges. By using tools like Solution-Focused therapy, mindfulness exercises, and CBT, I help clients feel empowered and understood, while creating a space where they can express themselves and work towards meaningful change.
I build trust and a strong therapeutic alliance by acknowledging that seeking therapy is a brave decision. I understand that clients are sharing sensitive, sometimes painful information, and it’s essential that they feel understood and valued. In our first few sessions, I focus on building rapport, answering any questions about the therapy process, and creating a safe, supportive space. This foundation of trust and open communication helps clients feel comfortable, fostering a strong therapeutic relationship that can support their growth and healing throughout the journey.
