I work with adults facing depression, anxiety, and challenges with major life transitions. I especially enjoy working with people from activist and LGBTQIA+ communities. My background in social work with those who have a history of psychosis has given me deep respect for people's experiences of marginalization and stigma, which sometimes result from seeking help.
Therapy is a place for those parts of ourselves that don’t otherwise have a place, whether in the roles, circles, and institutions we inhabit or even in our own minds. It is a place for what we cannot otherwise say or fully feel—where the conflictual, the confusing, the overwhelming, and the intolerable can be without having to make sense. It’s my hope that speaking as freely as possible about these things will help you begin to explore and bear unacknowledged emotions and desires, connect present conflicts to broader life themes and patterns, and gain new perspectives that offer more context and complexity.
Self-examination is especially important when our usual ways of handling life are no longer working for us. These moments find us at our most vulnerable, which is why I aim to recognize the courage to seek help by working collaboratively and without judgment to build a relationship that feels respectful and safe.
I am available virtually and in-person at my Loop office. I’m in-network for BCBS PPO and two Medicaid plans, BCBS Community Health and Aetna Better Health. I offer sliding scale services for self-pay clients.
