Hello, I'm Sonya, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Board Certified in Telemental Health (BC-TMH) with 16 years of experience in providing therapy. My approach to therapy is rooted in understanding and adapting to each client's unique needs. I specialize in Rapid Resolution Therapy, a technique that helps clients resolve their challenges swiftly and painlessly. Some clients have experienced significant improvements in just one session, while others have seen amazing results within 1 to 6 sessions. This method allows clients to eliminate negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without the need to repeatedly recount traumatic or stressful events, bringing peace to the soul.
I am deeply committed to facilitating change and growth in my clients. My focus is on working with adults who struggle with anxiety and are stuck due to trauma. I understand that no single therapy technique works for everyone, so I adapt my methods to fit each client's learning style and way of processing information.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of appearing as a guest therapist on Praise 102.5FM, Love 860AM, and blog radio shows like Women Warriors and Business Leaders of Today. I provide individual therapy to adults, specializing in issues such as depression, anxiety, divorce, anger, sexual abuse, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and stress management.
My background includes working at Child Advocacy Centers, where I provided therapy to children and adolescents who were victims of sexual and physical abuse, as well as offering family therapy and parenting classes. I have used Play Therapy to assist in the healing of children and served as a Facilitator for Darkness to Lightâs program, Stewards of Children, which educates adults on protecting children from sexual abuse. Additionally, I have experience as a Forensic Interviewer, providing expert testimony in abuse cases.
I also spent over two years working with the Cobb County School District's Success for All Students Program, helping students struggling academically due to behavioral challenges. I collaborated with parents and teachers to develop strategies for managing anger, ADHD, anxiety, depression, coping skills, and social skills. I led various groups, including a Transition Group for students moving from middle to high school, an Ecotherapy Group that involved maintaining a garden to foster self-esteem and personal growth, and a Child-Parent Relationship Therapy group to help parents regain control.
If you are seeking a compassionate and adaptive therapist to help you navigate your challenges, I am here to support you on your journey to healing and growth. Let's work together to bring peace and positive change into your life.
