Syd Merrill
Syd (she/her, they/them) is dedicated to providing an affirming, inclusive, and compassionate space for individuals of all identities and backgrounds, with particular passion for supporting clients navigating trauma, chronic illness and disability, LGBTQIA+ identity, and neurodivergence, including autism and ADHD. Syd believes that knowledge is empowering and that understanding one’s experiences is a vital part of the healing process; in therapy, they prioritize helping clients gain accurate, meaningful insight into their concerns while exploring available treatment options so clients can make informed, values-aligned decisions about their mental health and wellbeing. Whether clients process their experiences through reflection, emotion, humor, or a combination of all three, Syd is committed to walking alongside them and believes meaningful change is possible, striving to support clients as they take courageous steps toward growth, self-understanding, and a more authentic life.
Their therapeutic approach is collaborative and individualized, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), relational therapy, and feminist therapy. Syd works to tailor each session to the unique needs, goals, and lived experiences of the client, meeting them where they are with curiosity, respect, and care.
Syd sees clients age 12+. Syd accepts Medicaid (MHS, HIP, Anthem; Ambetter, Hoosier Healthwise, Caresource, and Traditional), Aetna, Evernorth (Cigna), IU Health (Narrow and Premier plans), and self-pay.
