Tanya Chen

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist who is curious and respectful of your wisdom and expertise as a person who has lived with yourself your whole life. I identify as an East Asian cis woman and a child of immigrants. My experiences help me to bring an intergenerational, sociocultural approach to my work. This means that I think of how our struggles may not just be an individual issue, but may be rooted in our culture, environment and family background.
I provide individual therapy to adults and adolescents in both English and Japanese. Some areas of specialty include relationship issues, self esteem issues, life transitions, stress, anxiety, mood issues (depression), family issues, cross cultural adaptation and intergenerational trauma.
