Hi there! I'm Maria, a licensed independent social worker in MA & RI. I have experiencing working with people all across the lifespan with anxiety and stress. I especially enjoy working with young adults as they navigate their own journeys into adulthood because, let's be honest, adulting is really freaking hard! My work focuses around helping you identify what you need to become independent and giving you the tools and supports to do so. I am currently accepting new virtual clients. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions. Insurances I accept: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Optum/United Healthcare, Cigna, Harvard Pilgrim and Tufts (Point32). If you have any further questions about insurance, I am happy to help verify your insurance coverage at no cost to you.
I have 20 years of working with clients on anxiety, burnout, and overwhelm. I love building new wellness practices that are accessible and sustainable -- identifying challenges, utilizing coping skills, and creating easy self-care practices for your day. It's wonderful to see clients shift from having distress at their symptoms to feeling confident about their ability to handle what life throws at them. After 20 years of working and learning, I utilize a wide range of approaches -- the classic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to reframe unhelpful thoughts, somatic practices like yoga, Emotional Freedom Technique, and mindfulness and breath work to help settle the body, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to get to know with caring and curiosity what is behind the triggers and automatic responses. My pronouns are she/her, and I strive to incorporate a feminist and anti-racist perspective into my work.
The pursuit of mental health wellness, recovery or personal change can be a hopeful and fulfilling endeavor. However, pursuing change can equally feel anxiety provoking or outside of one’s comfort zone. This is particularly true when change may mean altering or letting go of thoughts and behaviors that have felt protective or familiar. It is expected that one may enter into therapy with mixed feelings about the process and desired outcomes. It is my intention to partner with individuals at any stage of readiness to better understand her needs and develop a unique plan of treatment specifically tailored to meet those needs. My therapeutic style is empathetic, supportive, and direct. I incorporate humor and laughter whenever possible. I offer an eclectic blending of approaches, including Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness training, Strengths-based, Solution-focused and Cognitive Behavior Therapies. While I treat a wide array of issues, I maintain a primary focus on the treatment of eating disorders, women's issues, anxiety, depression and supporting students transitioning to college. Contact me directly to explore whether or not I may be a good fit for your needs.

I help clients by providing specialized treatments for anxiety conditions, OCD, body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), perfectionism, and the deep echoes of trauma—from relational and intergenerational wounds to betrayal trauma. If balancing academic/work pressure and your personal life is leaving you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out, I am here to help. Many clients I work with enter therapy feeling stuck in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, people-pleasing, or pushing themselves at the expense of their well-being. Perfectionism and self-criticism often make it even harder to slow down or feel satisfied. I specialize in therapy with college/graduate students and young professionals struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, early career stress, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I also work with survivors of sexual trauma and individuals who want to better understand how past experiences continue to shape their emotions, relationships, and sense of self. My approach is warm, collaborative, and values-focused. After working together, my clients often have greater self-confidence, increased insight into how past experiences shape current patterns, and a more compassionate relationship with themselves. I integrate psychodynamic therapy with evidence-based behavioral approaches such as CBT, ACT, and DBT, along with emotion-focused, self-compassion, and strengths-based perspectives. We'll explore practical tools to move forward from unhelpful patterns so that you can live more authentically. I am here to support you in understanding yourself with greater insight and compassion, easing anxiety’s influence on your wellbeing, and building a life that reflects your values rather than fear or pressure. I offer telehealth therapy for busy academic and professional lives. If this sounds like you, I invite you to explore my website and reach out for a consultation. I see clients in Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, and Colorado. I am also PSYPACT authorized to see clients in 40 additional states. *Note: I am in-network with several insurances in Massachusetts and Colorado, and I am out-of-network in New York, New Hampshire, and in PSYPACT states. I provide a superbill for my clients to request reimbursement from their insurance. Please reach out with any questions; I'm happy to work with you to keep therapy affordable.
Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything you’re “supposed” to do, but still feel overwhelmed, lost, or unsure of where you fit? Maybe you’re trying to balance classes, work, relationships, family expectations, and your own goals while quietly wondering, “Am I the only one struggling with this?” I work with young adults, including first generation students of diverse backgrounds, who are navigating big transitions and trying to figure out who they are while building the life they want. This may look like feeling stuck, dealing with academic or career stress, struggling with anxiety or burnout, feeling pressure to succeed, or trying to find your place in a new environment. As a bilingual therapist and someone who is first-generation, I understand the challenges of finding yourself while balancing family expectations, culture, and your own goals. Therapy can be a space to explore your identity, build confidence, and create a life that feels authentic to you. Whether you are struggling with stress, perfectionism, relationships, grief, major life changes, or simply feeling like you’re not where you want to be, I provide a supportive space where you can feel understood and develop tools to move forward. You don’t have to have everything figured out to start therapy. Sometimes reaching out is the first step toward understanding yourself better and creating meaningful change.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply not like yourself lately, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out on your own. I’m a nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience in healthcare, and I believe the best care happens when we work together. As a dual board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner, I look at your mental and physical health as parts of the same, connected story—not separate issues. In our work together, you can expect a compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you feel truly heard. I take a holistic and individualized approach, helping you understand what’s behind your symptoms, explore treatment options in clear, practical terms, and build strategies that fit your life and goals. I’ve supported people from late adolescence through older adulthood as they navigate life’s transitions. I have worked with young adults facing career transitions and the stress that often comes with major life changes. I also help individuals manage depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and mood disorders. Whether you’re continuing a treatment plan that’s already helping or seeking psychiatric care for the first time, I’ll meet you where you are. My goal is to help you feel respected, understood, and empowered to take an active role in your care.
Are you struggling in school, and wondering if you have an un-diagnosed learning disability? Do you need an updated evaluation to confirm a previous learning disability diagnosis? Are you concerned about inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity? Have you been in therapy for a long time, but are struggling to see results and improvement? A psychological assessment can help you get the support you need. I specialize in psychological evaluations. These evaluations help clients understand their learning style and cognitive strengths and weaknesses; assess for ADHD or executive functioning deficits; evaluate for the presence of a learning disability; and/or gain a better understanding of mental health symptoms, functioning and diagnosis. As part of these evaluations, I generate a comprehensive report that provides a clear diagnosis, and offers recommendations for the academic environment and/or ongoing treatment.
