Therapists for college students near Boston College
Hello there, Feeling stuck? Feeling stressed out about all the things that are competing for your attention? Wanting to change your relationship with yourself, so you can spread your wings and soar? I'm Stefan (he/him) and I want to be there on your journey. Starting therapy can feel scary, even if you've been in therapy before! To lower that intensity a bit, I want you to give you an idea of how I show up to sessions: - I get to know you - your family, friends, hobbies, shows, loves, fears, passions. - I celebrate and hype you up when you do the hard thing. - I ask questions to get you curious about patterns in your life, and point out when you might not be aware of them. - I offer compassion when your mind creates judgments about yourself. - I welcome and ask for feedback, knowing some things will land and others will not. - I laugh with you and value humor. - I tear up when you feel hurt or uncover a tender spot (while also holding space for you to feel). - I'll tell you I'm proud of you. - I nerd out about mental health, skills, approaches, and explain concepts in a way you'll understand. - I slow down and speed up based on your cues, and I give you choice in how we go about sessions. - I'm always working on our relationship, so there's trust and security when we get to difficult things. - I acknowledge the bigger systems of oppression that affect your life and lives of your loved ones. - I'm active and dynamic in sessions - sometimes asking questions, leading an activity, listening and reflecting, interrupting to highlight something you said, and synthesizing information and summarizing it back to you. All of this "I" is the effort I put into helping you get to "you": what you want, what you care about, your goals, dreams, your emotions, stressors, internal talk, and who you want to become and how you want to show up in life. Specialties: queer and trans identities and lived experiences, anxiety and depression, perfectionism, substance use, navigating family dynamics, healing trauma, couples and relationship work, career discernment Approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR; trauma approach), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman Method (for relationship work), mindfulness and somatic interventions I'm an associate counselor, seeing clients through telehealth in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and California. I am a clinical social worker and expressive art therapist. I'm passionate about art and mental health education and use both to support people as they develop skills and learn therapeutic tools to manage symptoms. In individual therapy, I enjoy working with young adults to help them develop positive relationships with themselves. I want to learn about you, how you think, how you learned those things, and what truly energizes you. Therapy can focus on processing the past using art and EMDR while also focusing on falling in love with the present. My speciality is using expressive art in therapy. Whether you believe yourself to be creative or not, my hope is to guide you through different ways to use art for relaxation and self-expression in group, individual, and family sessions. Sometimes words are not enough.

I’m passionate about helping people work through anxiety, depression, cope with loss, and embrace their authentic selves. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and strength-based therapy, helping you recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck while drawing on your natural resilience and inner strengths. I’m especially passionate about supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community, offering an inclusive environment where all identities are welcomed and respected. I’m a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (CAGCS) dedicated to helping individuals navigate grief, loss, and major life transitions with compassion and care. Using the TEAR Model—which focuses on Telling your story, Experiencing the pain, Adjusting to life without your loved one, and Reinvesting in new relationships and goals. Whether you’re coping with the death of a loved one, exploring your identity, or adjusting to a new stage of life, I offer a safe and affirming space where your story is honored and your healing can unfold. Together, we’ll work toward healing, balance, and renewed meaning—at your pace and in your own way.
I collaborate with adults as they heal from trauma, anxiety, loss, depression, other mood issues, or any number of matters leaving them feeling somehow ineffective. As a clinician for over nineteen years, I will join with you to identify and transform painful obstacles, arising from past and/or present challenges, which hinder you from making healthy changes. Drawing especially from Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), we will journey together to access your core nature, the Self, more spontaneously. This leads to clarity and calm over internal and external challenges you face, resulting in heightened creativity and effectiveness with problem solving, relationship building, and goal attainment. I believe you possess all necessary strengths and pathways to answers for improving your life, but may be having difficulty accessing them at present. I welcome individuals who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, including those questioning or seeking help adjusting to leading more open, fulfilled lives with however they identify themselves. The IFS model utilizes a non-pathologizing, mind-body focus. Drawing from the natural strengths existing within each of us, IFS and EMDR guide a person into taking the lead in one's own healing process, no matter how traumatic a background one may have lived through. On 5/4/14, I completed the Level 2 IFS training. On 3/12/17, I completed the basic EMDR training. I accept these insurances: BCBS and Medicare.

Hi and welcome—I’m really glad you found your way here! College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming—classes, relationships, family expectations, figuring out who you are, and making decisions about the future. It’s normal to feel stressed, stuck, or unsure at times. I work with students who are navigating anxiety, stress, self-esteem, identity, relationships, grief, trauma, and big life transitions. My style is collaborative and down-to-earth—I want our sessions to feel like a safe space where you can show up exactly as you are. My goal is to support you in making sense of what you’re going through, building tools that actually fit your life. Therapy doesn’t have to be heavy all the time—it can also be a space to reflect, grow, and discover new parts of yourself. If this feels like the kind of support you’re looking for, I’d love to connect!
Hi and welcome! Do you wish life would slow down so you can take a breath? Stuff has been piling up and now your relationships are strained, your social life isn't what you want, and you don’t even really know who you are. Clients come to me looking to connect with a fellow human whose been there because therapy is a place where you feel genuinely seen & valued. Together we'll collaborate to achieve what you envision for your life and create lasting change. I help my client make sense of the confusing and messy parts of life. Areas of specific focus are: anxiety, self esteem, sex, relationships, life changes, identity exploration and development, sibling relationships, and more providing neurodivergent and queer affirming care. Many of my clients have had troubles connecting with other therapists or are hesitant to start the process. I get it! Vulnerability is scary as hell and the idea of therapy can be intimidating. I hold such gratitude to offer a space that feels safe & open to allow those I work with to freely explore themselves. I deeply value the relationship between a person & their therapist and prioritize nurturing this connection to make our work together the most meaningful for you. My role is to listen, offer perspective, and provide supportive challenge & guidance to empower you in supporting yourself as you continue to move through life. I tell my clients: at the end of the day, I’m here to work myself out of a job. Therapy with me integrates talking, exercises, and – brace yourself – sometimes homework between sessions to practice what we’re working on. Together, we will cultivate healthy habits, gain tools to navigate life's changes, identify unhelpful patterns, & discover or reconnect with your truest self. I believe we all have the capacity to heal and grow. Warm, intentional support during that journey can make all the difference. Through my own experiences, I know how powerful human connection can be in achieving change. I also know the therapist you trust for help is an important choice. My goal is to foster a space where all parts of you feel truly understood & aligned. So, I take my time to listen and learn about YOU – your circumstances, inclinations, past experiences, and desires to tailor my approach in ways that best serve you and your goals. I uplift and affirm BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and Kink communities, and all forms of identity expression, lifestyles, and relationships.
