Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
Welcome to my practice! My practice focuses on working with women ages 18+ to enhance overall well-being. My experience encompass the areas related to college readiness/preparation, pre- and post-college transitions, depression, anxiety, low self-image/self-esteem, relationship conflicts, academic stress, and bereavement. I am invested in working with my clients to provide them with the tools and skills to achieve their personal goals and improve overall sense of well-being. The therapeutic modalities I primary use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, IFS (Internal Family systems), strength-based approach and psychodynamic therapy. My therapeutic approach is a collaborative effort between my clients and myself to focus on treatment objectives and achieve progress within the journey and experience of therapy. I create a warm, engaging and safe environment for my clients to explore difficult issues and open up to the therapeutic process at their own pace. I feel that therapy is a choice allowing each client to feel empowered by their decision to share in the therapeutic relationship with me. Currently, I am only conducting telehealth sessions. I use Simple Practice to conduct video sessions. To contact me-email is best.
Are you struggling to find ways to begin living a happier, secure, and fulfilled life or maybe a better handle on the current situation that keeps standing in the way of your goals? Let me help you through this process of seeking and promoting that self-love and examine your behaviors and how the behaviors of others impact you. You are in control! You have the strength, and you will have the answer! Life's too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. As a therapist, I believe in providing a space where you will feel secure and safe to share those thoughts that continue spinning in your head throughout the day. The way you form relationships with others, or your partner is a reflection of the healed or unhealed wounds you are carrying from your childhood experience. Our childhood wounds and conditions influence us more than we think. Healing these wounds helps us improve our self-worth, our standards, and our boundaries within ourselves and others. Sometimes you need someone who will listen, challenge and understand what you are going through. Let's work on building that self-confidence, self-love, and determination that will propel you to be a better version of yourself.
Has depression stopped you in your tracks? Has a sense of emptiness settled over you? Perhaps you feel like nothing in life is worth the effort anymore. Are you feeling “stuck” during a transitional time of your life—perhaps adjusting to a new career, new baby, relationship, or living situation? Have you recently given birth and feel overwhelmed by everything? Do you feel ashamed or embarrassed that you’re unable to manage the stress on your own? Fortunately, psychotherapy has the answers that you are looking for. With one-to-one sessions with a therapist like myself trained in treating depression, anxiety, maternal mental health concerns, and PTSD, you can learn skills to lessen depression, reduce anxiety, support postpartum mental health, heal from trauma, and find a positive way forward. I am here to offer you help through life's most difficult transitions. Talking to someone who understands is the first step in lifting you out of shame and into empowerment, so you can feel like yourself again. Hi there — I'm glad you're here. I work with thoughtful, high-achieving students who seem like they have it all together on the outside but are quietly exhausted on the inside. You might be the friend everyone counts on, the one who never says “no,” even when you're running on empty. Maybe you’re stuck in a cycle of overthinking, overworking, and still feeling like it’s never enough. College life can feel like a nonstop pressure cooker — but it doesn’t have to be this hard. My approach is holistic, down-to-earth, and focused on helping you feel more like yourself again. I blend tools from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Somatic Therapy to help you better understand your stress, listen to your body’s cues, and build coping strategies that actually work for you. Let’s connect for a free consult and see if we’re a good fit. You don’t have to figure this all out alone.

I am an integrative therapist who strives to meet you where you are today. In our work together we will take a collaborative approach to identify not only your current needs and challenges but also your strengths and tailor treatment accordingly. The majority of my work is focused around cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths based, person-centered and/or mindfulness techniques, and I seek to draw on your inner resilience and build insight and coping. I enjoy working with a motivated client who wants to make changes and feel better. With over 12 years of experience, I've worked with many young adults experiencing a range of acute and chronic concerns. I know that finding a therapist can feel overwhelming, and it's important to find a good fit. Email me today to set up a free 15 minute consultation.
My particular areas of interests include (but are not limited to): depression/anxiety, life transitions, college mental health, LGBTQIA+ issues, emotion regulation, and family work. I have significant experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community, working with children on the autism spectrum, and children/family work. I also have extensive training in risk assessments, individual, group, and family therapy. I approach each person/group as unique and will tailor my techniques/practices appropriately. My graduate work was with a concentration on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I also utilize techniques such as mindfulness, motivational interviewing, strength-based therapy, coping skill training, etc.
I create an environment which promotes safety and comfort in a way that is respectful and helpful. I work with the client at their own pace and we decide together what goals they want to address. Treatment is individually tailored to support clients managing daily stressors and coping with symptoms of anxiety, depression, chronic disease, relationship issues and grief. My goal is to work with clients to identify strengths and to develop different coping strategies that will help to facilitate a positive outcome.
I view therapy not only as a means of reducing emotional distress but also as an approach to personal growth. However, I believe that therapy should not be a way of life and I therefore support clients in developing concrete skills, with emphasis on working with emotions: promoting a better understanding of emotions and emotion regulation. I view therapy as a collaborative process of exploration. I bring to this process an attitude of compassionate curiosity and non-judgment. I also draw on my own bi-cultural experience - I was born and raised in Prague, Czech Republic. I practice emotion-focused therapy, which emphasizes the positive, adaptive roles of emotions. Sometimes, however, due to stress, trauma or adverse life events, emotions can become a source of distress. Through empathic, collaborative exploration I help my clients identify their authentic emotional needs and develop strategies for managing and regulating distressing emotions. If you are located in Western Mass (Pioneer Valley) I also offer walking therapy and animal assisted therapy. Therapy is my 2nd career. My PhD is in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) and my therapeutic work is informed by 25+ years of research in AI and cognitive & affective science. I am thus very familiar with academic environments and draw on this knowledge when working with students, both undergraduate and graduate.
I have over 10 years of experience partnering with clients across the lifespan around issues such as grief & loss, addiction, LGBTQIA+ issues, anxiety,, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. I seek to create a partnership with all of my clients so that our treatment is directed in accordance with your values and what is important to you. At the very least I want each and every client to walk away from one of my sessions feeling respected and heard.
We offer free initial consultations via phone, video, or in person to make sure we are a good fit before we get started with treatment. We are excited to get to know you and to be with you on your journey to a better you. Please visit our website or call us and we can talk about how we can support you.
James Verdery is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor located in Acton, MA. James works with children, adolescents, teenagers, and adults who struggle to manage their emotions and feel in control of their lives. His clients find themselves overwhelmed by feelings of anger, inadequacy, frustration, confusion, sadness, or loneliness. Despite their best efforts, they feel like they aren’t in control of their lives. They might suffer from low self-esteem, which leads to anxiety at school or in peer groups and can often leads to isolation. James helps these clients to grow their understanding of themselves, their emotions and learn techniques to manage their distress. Clients learn tangible skills in emotional regulation and expression. They practice challenging assumptions, ignoring self-judgments, distraction and grounding exercises, and more. James tailors his treatment style to each client’s individual needs, personalities, and preferences for engaging, effective sessions. James earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. He is passionate about starting conversations about mental health at an early age. He strives to give clients the skills they need for a lifetime of healthy habits, including strong coping skills that allow individuals to feel meaning and joy in their lives.
Hi, I'm Caily and I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a passion for helping young adults feel empowered, understood, and supported. I earned my Master's degree from Bridgewater State University (2020) after completing my undergraduate degree at Emmanuel College (2017). We’ll collaborate to define what you want to get out of therapy, and then break those goals into small, meaningful, and achievable steps. Therapy is an opportunity for you to explore, reflect upon, and work to overcome issues or circumstances in your life with someone who can be objective yet very much invested in you becoming stronger, healthier, and happier. Counseling as a process is meant to challenge you to face and work through any difficulties you are experiencing because of either past, present, or future concerns. It is typically a weekly meeting between you and your counselor that gives you the space to have an open dialogue about what you are facing, confront your feelings in a more honest way, or to decide how you want to approach solving a problem in your life. The length of counseling is unique for each individual, depending upon on your needs and goals. Essentially, the counseling process is driven by you. We have two therapists at our facility, Bushra Husain, DSW LCSW, Maryum Khwaja, LCSW.
Hi! I'm Kade- a queer, nonbinary therapist that got bored of doing traditional therapy. Now, I work with clients in the outdoors (think: walk and talk therapy, or hanging out by a creek, or making nature art) or offer to bring in art and nature into our office or virtual sessions. I primarily work with LGBTQIA+ clients as well as those figuring out life after leaving or reconsidering religion. Many of my other clients are navigating life changes that feel chaotic or are just trying to give therapy "another shot". My ultimate goal for my clients is for them to get the support they're needing. So, I'll invite you to check in about what's working or not, and will work to co-create an approach to therapy based on your own needs. Therapy should never be a "one size fits all" kind of thing.

For over 25 years I have worked as a social worker, life coach and therapist with children, adolescents and adults. Since I was a child I knew that I wanted to be a counselor helping others in their time of need. At some point in life's journey you may experience a time where you feel you may benefit from some extra support and guidance, let me help you on the road to hope and healing. I believe in a mutual therapeutic relationship working together as a team towards the client's goals. Starting therapy and sharing issues that have become challenging is a hard and yet courageous step in your healing process. As a therapist I am honored to be able to share in this journey and hold the emotions that come with this. I consider myself to be an eclectic therapist, taking into consideration the individuals uniqueness and needs before implementing techniques and strategies. I use an honest and direct approach in a non-judgemental and compassionate way. With the help of different modalities CBT, Mindfulness, Solution Focused and EMDR I can help you find a path toward inner peace and joy.

Anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders ARE treatable. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life transitions when fear, panic, and OCD interfere with daily functioning and longer-term progress. With compassion and experience, I aim to empower you to overcome obstacles, develop resilience, and achieve emotional well-being. I use evidence-based treatments of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), as well as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to help you experience symptom relief and work toward future goals. I have a particular interest in women’s mental health, recognizing the immense physical and emotional challenges that accompany pregnancy, motherhood, and menopause. Having raised three children of my own (ages 17, 21, and 23), I have developed a mature perspective on problem-solving and empowering other women toward strength and adaptability. I am committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those around me and have a long-standing dedication to community and volunteer work.
