Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
Life is full of transitions, some of our own choosing, others imposed upon us. The challenges involved in life altering experiences can sometimes feel overwhelming and therefore catalysts for common symptoms of anxiety and depression. This is when therapy can be especially helpful. I offer compassionate, client centered services designed to meet the individual where they are at while incorporating a mindful approach toward treatment. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand, cope with and resolve current challenges at hand. I have 20 years of clinical experience working with adults, families, couples, children and adolescents. My areas of expertise include a dialectical, evidenced based approach in treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, divorce, D.V., grief and loss, relational issues etc. Credentialed in a Positive Parenting Program (Triple P). I offer a variety of techniques in therapy while striving to build trust in the therapeutic relationship. These are likely to include dialogue, interpretation, mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, reframing, relaxation techniques, guided imagery, self-monitoring exercises, exploring family of origin, attachment, systems theory, multicultural frameworks, oppression awareness etc.
Wendy Perello, LCSW, has a specialized focus on helping individuals navigate through life transitions, trauma, career-focused stress, and self-esteem challenges. Wendy will help uncover your underlying strengths, determine your therapeutic goals, and learn more about why you do the things you do. Her holistic approach integrates all aspects of who you are allowing her to curate an ideal approach that combines mindfulness, narrative therapy and CBT.
Searching for a therapist can be one of the most difficult parts of coping, healing, and self-empowerment, because it's the first thing you must do. You must force yourself out of your comfort zone and out of whatever routine you've had before, to take the initiative and embark on a new path. When we're at our best, stepping out of our comfort zones can be daunting; when we're feeling vulnerable, it can seem nearly impossible. No matter what prompted you to take this first step, I'd like to be there for your second. I have a deep affinity for those affected by trauma, including sexual assault and combat, as well as extensive experience and desire to work with those with perinatal issues (such as post-partum depression), issues of gender and racial justice, childhood and teenage transitions, depression, and chronic illness. My therapeutic approach focuses on creating an empathic environment where you feel safe and relaxed, and where we can use every tool available to brighten your present and empower your future. This may involve playing a game or taking a walk as often as we spend time in the office.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey. My goal is to walk alongside you with empathy and openness, helping you uncover your strengths and find meaningful growth. Whether you are processing past trauma, working through current challenges, or seeking greater self-understanding, I strive to meet you where you are and support you every step of the way. I bring a compassionate, person-centered, and holistic approach to the therapeutic space, while creating a safe and supportive environment for all individuals.
If you're someone who feels better after talking things through—those who find relief in external processing and venting—you're in the right place. Many of my clients come to me because they feel the need to keep their feelings and thoughts bottled up around friends and family, out of fear of judgment or being a burden. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can express yourself freely. My approach is laid-back and conversational. I’m here to listen, ask questions, and engage in real, down-to-earth discussions. Humor and genuine interactions are part of how I create a comfortable space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions. I work with individuals who are dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, school/career stress, or communication challenges with family members. Clients often tell me that our work together helps them better regulate their emotions, respond to challenges with greater ease, set healthier boundaries, and improve their self-esteem. My therapeutic style is collaborative and non-judgmental, focusing on creating a space where you feel supported and understood. Reach out to see if we may be a good fit!

Hello! I’m Katherine. Therapy is a chance to have someone outside of your daily life help you process and navigate your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I aim to create a warm, welcoming space where you can openly discuss even the toughest parts of your life. I have experience in many areas, but I especially love working with life transitions and changes, relationship dynamics, and self-discovery. As a woman of color, I’m also passionate about addressing racial identity issues and breaking unhealthy patterns with other BIPOC individuals. My goal is to help you find your voice and create a life that feels best for you. In our work together, I hope you not only find solutions to whatever brought you to therapy but also learn more about yourself and how you want your life to be. We’ll go at your pace, with you taking the lead. After all, this is your story. If this sounds like what you’re looking for in therapy, I’d love to start working with you!
Making the decision to come to therapy can be a powerful one. I support individuals navigating the various pressures and stresses in their lives. I specialize in working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, and perfectionism. In session, clients feel a space free of judgment where they can reconnect with their authentic selves. With that in mind, I approach sessions in a collaborative way with the hopes of building self-esteem and personal agency. In our sessions, you'll feel like you're part of a team and not up against the problem alone. I also help college students, young working professionals, and athletes manage all that comes with being in a high-pressured environment. My own experience as a collegiate athlete taught me the values of teamwork, resilience, and overcoming anxiety and self-doubt-- all qualities I aim to pass along to my clients. For all clients, mindfulness may be an important part of our work. I bring in tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy as well as traditional talk therapy to help you establish healthy boundaries, control overwhelming emotions, and stay grounded in the present moment. I also have a special interest in working with athletes transitioning to life after their sports career. My training as a yoga teacher helps me to deeply understand the mind-body connection, and how identity can get tied up athletic performance. I’ll help you develop a new daily routine, find meaningful ways to incorporate exercise at a lower level, manage fluctuating mood, and develop strong relationships outside of sports. Our sessions will feel like you are supported in taking action steps in your life. I am here to listen and provide accountability with changes you are hoping to make in your life.
Do you feel like you’re juggling everything — trying to be the strong one — while quietly running on empty? On the outside, it looks like you’ve got it together, but inside, you’re overwhelmed, exhausted, and wondering why it’s so hard to just feel okay. Maybe you say yes when you want to say no or carry old wounds that still affect your life. You’re ready for change — to feel more grounded, present, and connected. I specialize in helping self-aware women break free from perfectionism, people-pleasing, and the heavy emotional load they’ve been carrying for way too long. Together, we’ll get curious about what’s underneath the surface. I use EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches to help you process what’s been holding you back — whether it’s anxiety, past trauma, or patterns you’re just tired of repeating. Therapy with me is about creating a space where you can finally exhale, be fully seen, and start building a life that feels true to who you are. If any of this resonates, I’d love to talk. Reach out for a free 15-minute consult to see if we’re a good fit.

Sometimes it's really hard for us to ask for help-especially when you're a strong, independent woman. Therapy is a great way to reach out, learn more about yourself, and grow through any challenges you might be facing. I help women who want to change their relationship with food and their bodies. I work with women in individual, group, & virtual therapy. I have a holistic approach that covers a wide range of symptoms & issues, but I enjoy helping clients who have struggled with their weight make peace with food. I love working with college women who are graduating & seeking support for the transition, and specialize in those women experiencing a "quarter life crisis". I also have a lot of experience helping women with recovering from sexual trauma. I love working with women who may have experienced an unplanned pregnancy or abortion as well, and offer an non-judgemental, pro-choice arena to explore emotions. Starting therapy can seem scary, but its brave to get some help! Make the decision to feel better today. It cannot be overstated what a big deal it is that you have begun to explore finding support for yourself. This first step is one of the hardest. I’d be honored to be a resource for you during this time, and accompany you as you grow and change. The majority of my clients are high achievers of all stripes, from Ivy League students to folks attending competitive conservatories and art schools. I was a performing artist (actor, singer, musician) for 12 years in New York City before changing careers, and I specialize in working with folks who have creative identities. Many of my clients are LGBTQ+ and/or neurodivergent, and most also find themselves in overfunctioning/underfunctioning dynamics in their relationships. My main therapy modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as somatic mindfulness-based therapy (Hakomi), and experiential therapy (gestalt). Basically this means that, in therapy, I will support you in getting more familiar with your internal system by helping you track what’s happening in your mind, your body, and between you and I (the therapist and the client). I’ll also guide you towards deepening your relationship with the different “parts” of your system, learning their agendas and desires, which sometimes produce inner conflicts and create stuckness. It’s well-known that being mindful of your body and breath is a great way to reduce stress, and using this practice as real situations arise in therapy will give you a practical way to use it in your day-to-day. As you get to know your system better, you will build greater trust within yourself, allowing for stuck parts to shift and for real lasting change to occur. If you’ve been in therapy before and it just felt like venting, IFS will be different. Pro tip: the research suggests that the therapy modality you use is less important than a trusting relationship with your therapist as far as positive therapy outcomes (though I will happily talk IFS theory for days). Do your best to go with your gut feeling about who intuitively feels right when choosing a therapist, even if right now might be the hardest time to do so. If something about my practice resonates, please reach out and schedule a consultation! I look forward to hearing from you soon!
