Choosing a therapist who is a good match is not an easy task. At Copernican Clinical Services we have a wide range of clinicians to meet your needs. I would ask that you click on our website and review the backgrounds of all of our clinicians in order to determine who might be a best fit for you before we speak by phone. Most college students appreciate the sense warmth and overall sense of connection that our clinicians bring to every conversation. They feel that they are able to engage with a skilled clinician who is also an authentic person who cares about them in a personal way. They also appreciate our ability to help them identify practical solutions to the academic and emotional issues that they voice in their first session. Our wide range of clinical experiences in the field allows us to provide you with a clinician who will help you move through treatment with a sense of energy and a feeling that your strengths are both appreciated and enhanced throughout the treatment process. We treat a wide range of issues using many state of the art intervention strategies that are delivered in individual, group, and family therapy sessions depending on your needs. We also specialize in helping students with organizational, writing, or academic demands by pairing them with one of our clinical tutors who specialize in supporting college students with mental health challenges address the learning issues that might be impairing their academic success. We also support students and their families in situations where they are stepping down from a stay in an in-patient hospital or are trying to avoid a hospitalization. We have a reputation in the Boston area for managing such situations with a sophisticated and time-tested level of knowledge in knowing how to coordinate a team of outpatient treaters. Our approach to treatment is holistic in that we use a range of treatment interventions to identify and address your needs in a personalized manner. I am a solution-focused therapist who meets clients where they are at with compassion, but also help to build strategies on how to cope with life. I have experience working with survivors of sexual and family violence as well as those struggling with anxiety and attachment issues. I believe in culturally-competent and trauma-informed care and utilized an eclectic therapeutic approach with a focus on Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Relational Therapy. I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, board-certified, working in Coolidge Corner, Brookline providing psychiatric diagnostic assessment, medication management, and consultation. I offer Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday appointments 7 am-6 pm. I started my career as a school-based-support-team social worker in the South Bronx. I became increasingly interested in a Mind-Body practice and began teaching Yoga, fitness, and Pilates. This journey led me back to school where I earned an MSN and certified as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. My goal is to help you to increase joy and diminish suffering. I am a generalist working with adults. My clinical practice is client-centered, based on training, experience, and recommendations set forth by evidence-based care. I treat the symptoms, use medications conservatively. I encourage using workbooks as an adjunct or alternative to medication. Modern life presents many choices and challenges. Genetic and environmental stress, COVID-19 can be overwhelming. I offer my professional expertise to help you navigate through these challenges with awareness, compassion, and mindfulness. My practice focuses on helping people get to know themselves better and learn to cope with difficult thoughts and feelings that get in their way of moving forward with what they want. Helping clients clarify what they value and learn new behaviors that help them build a meaningful life is a main goal of my approach . I have over twenty years of experience and love working with college students who are feeling depressed, anxious, have trouble fitting in, managing stress and transitions. Cross-cultural issues, grief, and parenting are also areas of particular focus in my practice. I am a native Spanish-speaker and provide services in Spanish as well as English.
