College can be a time of exploration and fun but also a time full of stress and adjustment. Many people I work with have challenges with family or friends they need to resolve, while others struggle with maintaining structure due to low motivation or mental health barriers. I aim to help people find their inner strengths & resolve whatever issues are hindering their progress in life.

It cannot be overstated what a big deal it is that you have begun to explore finding support for yourself. This first step is one of the hardest. I’d be honored to be a resource for you during this time, and accompany you as you grow and change. The majority of my clients are high achievers of all stripes, from Ivy League students to folks attending competitive conservatories and art schools. I was a performing artist (actor, singer, musician) for 12 years in New York City before changing careers, and I specialize in working with folks who have creative identities. Many of my clients are LGBTQ+ and/or neurodivergent, and most also find themselves in overfunctioning/underfunctioning dynamics in their relationships. My main therapy modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as somatic mindfulness-based therapy (Hakomi), and experiential therapy (gestalt). Basically this means that, in therapy, I will support you in getting more familiar with your internal system by helping you track what’s happening in your mind, your body, and between you and I (the therapist and the client). I’ll also guide you towards deepening your relationship with the different ā€œpartsā€ of your system, learning their agendas and desires, which sometimes produce inner conflicts and create stuckness. It’s well-known that being mindful of your body and breath is a great way to reduce stress, and using this practice as real situations arise in therapy will give you a practical way to use it in your day-to-day. As you get to know your system better, you will build greater trust within yourself, allowing for stuck parts to shift and for real lasting change to occur. If you’ve been in therapy before and it just felt like venting, IFS will be different. Pro tip: the research suggests that the therapy modality you use is less important than a trusting relationship with your therapist as far as positive therapy outcomes (though I will happily talk IFS theory for days). Do your best to go with your gut feeling about who intuitively feels right when choosing a therapist, even if right now might be the hardest time to do so. If something about my practice resonates, please reach out and schedule a consultation! I look forward to hearing from you soon!

I applaud you for your courage in exploring therapy. I specialize in anxiety, depression, addiction, recovery, grief, loss, LGBTQ+ issues, stress, relationships, self-esteem, and trauma. I employ a Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral approach, emphasizing the reality that what we tell ourselves affects both how we feel and our actions. I also integrate the Psychodynamic perspective, exploring how our early experiences affect the now, and a Solution-Focused modality to help clients problem solve. I sprinkle in Existentialist, Narrative, REBT, & DBT strategies as well, creating a safe, non-judgmental & trusting environment. All are welcome and included in my therapeutic, affirming, and supportive sanctuary. I am a University Lecturer of Psychology at Fordham University. I specialize in EMDR for treating trauma and have worked extensively with first responders on work-related stress & traumas. My research focuses on the sense of belonging for LGBTQ+ community college students. Let me help you reclaim your power by guiding you on the process of choosing love over fear. I look forward to showing you how to use your light to honor your true, authentic self, align with your soul's purpose, and cultivate the courage to love yourself and, ultimately, others unconditionally. You are already enough exactly as you are. Much peace. Just be.

Do you struggle with difficult emotions? Feel that something is missing? Unsatisfied with aspects of your life? Working together, I can help you learn to understand your feelings; untangle complicated emotions; increase positive experiences, improve communication and relationships; end cycles of depression and anxiety. Sometimes you feel the need or desire to initiate change. Other times change may present itself in a way that leaves you feeling that you have limited or no influence over your circumstances. I help people deal effectively with change. Is it time to prioritize what is important to you? I work with adults and adolescents removing barriers, initiating and navigating change that leads to a life they value and enjoy. If these sound like goals you have and you are ready to move forward we will be a good fit for working together.

My work focuses on adults who experience relationship difficulties (romantic, with family, or friends), anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, academic concerns, and trauma - especially from relationships, prior domestic violence, family, and prejudices (i.e. sizeism, classism, xenophobia, sexism, racism, homophobia, neurodiversity discrimination). I see individuals and couples virtually or in person within a culturally sensitive practice. We recognize the nuanced experiences of marginalized people including people of color, immigrants, 1st gen college students, women, neurodivergent, working class, and queer folks. I see people as shaped by life experiences, relationships, identities, family, culture, and society. Plus we're unique individuals! Our work will consider all of this. I like to collaborate with my clients and strive to be honest, patient, flexible, nonjudgmental, warm, humble, curious, empathic, and social justice minded. I'm a neurotypical, cis, het, biracial, Black Puerto Rican woman from a working class, urban neighborhood. My approach is decolonial, anti-racist, LGBTQ+ affirming, immigrant allied, feminist, & trauma-informed. I'm a psychodynamic, relational clinician also trained in CBT, ACT, self-compassion, MI, and attachment. I'm physically located in Rochester, NY.

Whether you're worrying often, struggling with relationship stress and conflict, needing to process traumatic events, or wanting to experience a more loving sense of self, beginning therapy can be anxiety-provoking and takes courage. I hope to make your experience a little easier by listening with compassion and curiosity, moving at your pace, and centering the therapy around your needs. Do others describe you as overachieving, self-reliant, perfectionistic, or Type-A? Do you struggle with creating enough balance in your life? Do you lose track of your needs & desires, and then find yourself feeling burnt out or resentful of others? We will work together to help you feel more grounded and centered, develop effective communication skills, set & maintain boundaries that feel good, experience greater compassion towards yourself, and feel more connected to others. We can work through whatever barriers are getting in the way of creating more play, softness, love, rest & support in your life. I am trained in psychodynamic therapy & mindfulness-based somatic therapy, two powerful ways of working that promote greater awareness, connection, and sense of freedom. I welcome you to reach out for a phone consult & we can feel into if we're a good fit to work together.

I am trained in EMDR and attend monthly consultation with a certified EMDR consultant. Many people come to me with knowledge or curiosity of stored trauma in the body and its effects. This can look like persistent anxiety, "unexplained" health challenges like autoimmune disease, pelvic pain, abdominal pain and more. Additionally, clients will come to me and say that despite years of talk therapy they still feel stuck and want to explore how EMDR may be helpful for them. EMDR is an 8 phase process that doesn't have a specific timeline; it is catered to your needs and goals and progress is closely monitored throughout.
