Therapists for college students near New York, NY
Stacey Spata
Hi, I'm Stacey, and I have been a therapist for more than twenty years. I work with teens, young adults, older adults, couples, and families, and over that time I have walked alongside people facing just about every kind of life and mental health challenge. My approach is holistic, which means we look at how your mental, physical, and spiritual health connect, because that fuller picture often opens up solutions that are hard to find any other way. I will meet you with dignity, warmth, and respect, and I will hold a safe space where you can explore, grow, and figure out what balance looks like for you. Many people arrive feeling stuck or in distress, and I like to remind my clients that even in the middle of a struggle there is real room to grow into the best version of yourself. I genuinely love listening to people's stories and helping them move toward their goals. I see clients through WellQor, where I provide therapy entirely online, so we can meet from wherever you feel most comfortable. If you would like to begin working together, visit the WellQor website and fill out the Get Started form. A patient liaison will then text you with the next steps and help get you on my schedule. I cannot wait to learn more about you.
Marie Feltio
Hi, I'm Marie. Life has a way of handing us more than we feel ready for, whether it is a loss, a change you did not choose, or a worry that just will not quiet down. When you are in the middle of it, you do not have to carry it alone. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York, and I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and family conflict. Across schools and community settings, one thing has stayed true for me: everyone has a story, and every story deserves curiosity instead of judgment. I will meet you where you are and help you build on the strengths you already have, drawing on CBT, solution-focused work, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. What matters most is that our time together feels safe, honest, and genuinely yours. I promise to honor your story, celebrate your progress, and walk alongside you the whole way. I see clients through WellQor, which offers online therapy so we can connect from wherever works for you. To begin, visit the WellQor website and complete the Get Started form. A patient liaison will then text you the next steps and help set up your first appointment. I look forward to meeting you.
Colleen Johnson, NCC, MHC-LP (TalkNY!)
I am glad you are here. College can be really overwhelming, confusing, and empowering. To process these feelings and maybe dilemmas, you just need someone to hold space for you. I enjoy guiding college students through life’s complexities—whether you are navigating college stressors, anxiety, process addiction or substance use, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, or major career & life transitions. I understand how deeply our environments, relationships, and internal worlds are connected as students. Before my work as a counselor, I supported college students as a career counselor, success coach, learning strategies tutor, and administrator for 20+ years. I hold Master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (St. John Fisher University) and Human Resource Development (RIT). To support the whole person, my integrative approach combines evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused work with trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and somatic practices. I can guide clients to connect the mind and body to regulate the nervous system and build lasting resilience. Counseling doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or intimidating. I enjoy integrating humor, practical metaphors, and a strengths-based focus to help you move from simply surviving to genuinely thriving.
Amanda Muniz
I work best with college students who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or uncertain as they navigate school, relationships, and the transition into adulthood. Many of the students I support struggle with self-doubt, low self-esteem, setting boundaries, balancing responsibilities, or feeling pressure to have everything figured out. I enjoy working with students who want to better understand themselves, build confidence, develop healthier relationships, and feel more grounded in who they are. Whether you are adjusting to college, navigating a difficult transition, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can provide a supportive space to work through what you are experiencing and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

Pathways to Potential
Hello all, I am from NYC originally, and have been a licensed psychologist for 17 years! I completed my clinical internship at Yale, and my post-doctorate at the Boston College Counseling Center. I have been a Program Manager at NYU Langone Brooklyn in their mental health program for over a decade, and have my own private practice. The guiding belief of my practice is that all people can overcome their difficulties, no matter how difficult, when given the right tools and support. We would be happy to help you no matter what challenge is in front of you. I specialize in helping young adults navigate difficulties such as anxiety, depression, executive function, relationship issues, panic, and spectrum disorders. I have an advanced specialty in treating psychosis and bipolar disorder as well. I carefully selected two other members of my team who share my philosophy, and I supervise them for a real team based approach to helping patients who come to us for help. Our Team One staff member is African American, she enjoys working with all individuals but especially Black adults across the diaspora (given her background and culturally informed knowledge of struggles for Black Americans, Africans, immigrants, first-gen, and minorities within black cultures). One staff member is Chinese and speaks English and Mandarin. While skilled in treating all individuals, she has a particular interest in BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ communities, first-gen and international students, bicultural individuals, and people navigating anxiety and/or. depression We are here to help you. The first step is to call us for a free 20 minute consult (you can submit a request through the website too), but we enjoy receiving calls as well. When we speak, we will ask you some questions to get to know you and see how we can help and who is the best team member who can help. You would have a chance to ask questions and see if we feel like a good fit for you as well. Many people who are struggling with their mental health have a hard time reaching out for help. Please, I encourage you to pick up the phone for a free consult and let us hear how you are doing and see how we may help you. Thank you As a licensed psychologist practicing for nearly 20 years, I aim to keep the cost of treatment low. We accept several insurances, and we can also offer a sliding fee cheaper than our listed prices for people that are struggling but don't have the insurances we accept. Others are under their parents insurance. Send a message through the website or call for assistance!

Self-discovery is an evolving journey that takes time. I work with clients living at the intersection of identities, culture, and belonging. As an East Asian therapist who has lived across multiple cultures, I am passionate about supporting BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating anxiety, depression, gender and sexuality, relationship concerns, life transitions, and trauma. I hold a Master’s in Counseling from New York University and an advanced certificate in LGBTQ+ Health. My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, grounded in person-centered and feminist therapy, while drawing on ACT, MBCT, and DBT to tailor therapy to your needs. I offer sessions in English and Mandarin and warmly welcome clients of all identities and backgrounds. Together, I hope to help you deepen self-understanding, cultivate self-compassion, and feel empowered as you navigate your life journey.
Breanna Ramos
Breanna is a holistic, person-centered therapist with a deep appreciation for the mind-body connection and a genuine passion for making every client feel truly seen, honored, and empowered. Known for her warmth, compassion, and affirming presence, Breanna creates a space that feels safe, collaborative, and completely judgment-free, where each person's unique identity and story is celebrated, not just acknowledged. Her approach is grounded in holistic, person-centered values, with a deep commitment to building authentic, compassionate therapeutic relationships. Breanna tailors her work to meet each client exactly where they are — honoring their unique experiences, strengths, and goals every step of the way. Therapy should be accessible! I am in-network with Aetna (NY) and I am an out-of-network provider with all other major insurances and provide support receiving out-of-network reimbursement. Please reach out with any questions or about sliding scale fee options!

What haven't you said? And what might change if you said it? Some things only become known and shift under the right conditions. I'm Andrew, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in Ashland, OR, remote across OR, MD, and NY. I've been a therapist for 15 years. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, relationship snags, troublesome patterns, career and purpose questions, and the more diffuse sense that something is off. I work with students and graduate students sorting out what it means to become themselves while meeting everyone else's expectations, and with medical students and residents under the particular pressures of clinical training. I've also spent years with addiction, trauma, and more acute struggles. My training is psychoanalytic, but in practice I'm more interested in you than in applying any of it to you. I'm not here to fit you into a framework or hand you formulas for how to be. Together we explore what matters, what repeats, what gets avoided, what happens between us. You come to know what's best. That stays with you anywhere. The first conversation is a brief phone call, fifteen or twenty minutes, to talk about what brought you in and whether we're a fit. Not sure if therapy is for you? That's a fine place to start. Reach out.

Caroline Roarty, LMHC
Welcome! I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State offering virtual therapy to college and graduate students. College can bring a unique mix of challenges, including loneliness, changing friendships, social anxiety, self-esteem struggles, academic pressure, and uncertainty about who you are or what comes next. Therapy is a place to address all of it. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you. We won’t just talk about what’s going on, we’ll work to understand the deeper patterns, experiences, and beliefs keeping you stuck to create meaningful change. I integrate approaches including EMDR, CBT, somatic work and relational therapy to help you feel more confident, connected, and grounded in yourself.
Brennan C. Mallonee, LMHC
I help bright, dynamic students deal with the anxiety and overwhelm that can creep up as you're out there doing what you always thought you were supposed to be doing. You work really hard but it's getting harder to hold it all together as you wrestle with the doubts and the stress. Your relationships might be feeling less than happy and fulfilling lately, or you're just plain overwhelmed. On the outside, you look like you have it all together - but that doesn't make you feel OK on the inside. I help people like you learn how to finally feel good about themselves, balance school work and self care, build strong relationships, manage anxiety and stress, and feel less alone and overwhelmed. You're not out of options - in fact, therapy could be the start of a great new chapter in your life.
Dhvani Patel Lindsey
Hi, I’m Dhvani! I offer virtual therapy sessions for students in NY and NJ who may be looking for support beyond their campus counseling center. I work with people navigating anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, and life transitions—especially during demanding or uncertain times in school. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, feel heard, and begin to make sense of what you’re going through. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices like mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I understand that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Together, we’ll tailor our work based on your goals—whether that means building practical tools to manage day-to-day stress or exploring deeper patterns that may be shaping your experiences. Finding the right therapist matters. If you’re interested in working together, I’d be happy to connect for a free consultation to see if it feels like a good fit for you.
Marianne Cook, EdD, LICSW
I help college students, graduate students, and university faculty manage stress, cope with painful emotions, and navigate school, work, and relationships. Higher education offers a huge opportunity for growth and self-discovery, but it also presents unique stressors and challenges. In addition to treating anxiety and depression, I work regularly with issues of perfectionism, peer comparison, academic pressure, and burnout. I also help clients build healthy friendships and partnerships, explore identity issues, adjust to new situations and life phases, and examine possible career directions. I believe that great therapy is tailored to meet clients’ needs and goals, so I integrate a variety of approaches into my work, including insight-oriented methods, mindfulness practices, and cognitive behavioral techniques. Depending on what a client brings to each session, we might work on specific tools to address a current problem, examine the origins of a long-standing pattern, or explore some of life’s biggest questions together. I believe in the inherent resiliency of my clients, and I empower them to tap into their inner strengths and resources. At the foundation of my practice is always the relationship with my clients, which is built on mutual trust and active collaboration. My professional training includes degrees in Psychology (BA, Harvard University), Social Work (MSW, University of Chicago), and Higher Education (EdD, Northeastern University), along with experience in university counseling, academic and career advising, community mental health, and international education. Clients describe me as authentic, attentive, compassionate, and dedicated. While I am not in-network for any insurance providers, many university students have out-of-network benefits that they can use to seek insurance reimbursement for our sessions. I am happy to assist clients in this process. Please visit my website for more information. I am based in Cambridge MA and licensed across MA, NY, DC, and CT.
