Most people in your life would be surprised to know that you have internal struggles because you hide it well, but deep down inside you feel unfulfilled and unhappy. While some areas of your life are good, other areas never seem to improve no matter how hard you work on them. There seems to be this pattern of behavior that constantly gets in your way. It appears as if something is always holding you back, you feel stuck and unsure of how to move forward. You want to learn how to love and accept yourself and improve the quality of your relationships, starting with the relationship with yourself. We will work together to help you develop healthy habits and new ways of thinking. My goal is to partner with you as you become more self-aware, confident, and courageous. I am passionate about helping you to create a more loving and helpful attitude towards yourself and others so that you can have the life you dream of.

My area of specialty is working with young children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with mood dysregulation, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and conduct behavioral and eating disorders. Over the past five years, I have been providing therapeutic services to young children and their families, assisting them with addressing behavioral issues, and mental health concerns, resolving conflicts, and breaking generational curses (trauma). A bit about my approach to therapy As a licensed psychotherapist, I focus on the six areas of personal development: spiritual, mental, emotional, intellectual, physical, and social. The foundation of my work involves using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT) and Person-Centered to help guide clients to eliminate unwanted behaviors and replace them with the healthy behaviors they desire. My passion is to empower children and their families and help them overcome any unwanted obstacles, increase self-awareness, promote healthy communication, and establish healthy coping skills. My experience on the other side of the 'couch' has shown me that real change is possible when you make your mental health a priority. It takes courage to ask for support, and you don't have to face life's challenges alone. Therapy provides a safe, supportive space for you to share and process what you’ve been carrying. In our sessions, I’ll use strengths-based approaches, insight-building techniques, and various therapeutic modalities to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and achieve your personal goals. My approach to therapy is both conversational and practical (somewhere in the middle of talking to a friend while also getting concrete techniques and insights). I strive to create a safe environment where your story is valued, and you are treated as the expert of your own lived experiences. I specialize in supporting individuals who have a sense of overwhelm, ruminating thoughts, burnout, lack of motivation, disconnected, feeling hopeless and detached, and life transitions. What You Can Expect: - Problem Solving: We'll focus on addressing the issues causing you the most stress right now. - New Understanding: You'll gain clarity on your symptoms, triggers, and responses, making them less intimidating and more manageable. - Tools and Strategies: You'll learn evidence-based techniques to manage overwhelming thoughts and emotions. - Confidence: You'll recognize your strength in handling anxiety, guilt, and sadness, empowering you to take control. Let's take this step toward self-care—I'm here to help.

Psychologist

Welcome! I am a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice at PhilaPsy, where I offer psychotherapy for adults of all ages and specialize in working with individuals in early to middle adulthood. I have a varied practice, with people coming to therapy for a wide range of reasons. My areas of particular focus include working with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, depression, transitions or changes in life, stress, self-esteem, identity, relationship issues, interpersonal conflict, trauma, and feeling lonely, angry, empty or stuck. Across contexts, I provide identity affirming, culturally responsive, relational care. Therapy invites people to explore, process, and make sense of their ideas, emotions, experiences, challenges, and areas of conflict. I approach this work with collaboration and curiosity, bringing focus to how our relationships, social systems, personal histories, and development inform the ways we experience ourselves, others, and the worlds we inhabit. I believe a central part of feeling helped is finding a therapist who brings hope, humor, safety, and a sense of belonging. With the right fit, therapy can provide building blocks for people to heal, find community, uncover a path for themselves, and discover ways of living in this world that feel meaningful. If you are interested in reaching out, I offer a free phone consultation to get a sense of what you are looking for, address questions, and discuss possible next steps. Together, we can determine if we might be a good fit. To learn more about my work, please visit: philapsy.com

Being a student is a tough time of transition. There are alot of feelings that are swirling around, along with having to "stay on top of all of your academics and/or sports". For many students, it is the first time living without parents/guardians. You have to deal with faculty, and manage expectations from others as well as yourself. College life can be fun, but at the same time very stressful! Sometimes the stress causes other problems to pop up that you have not had to deal with before, or perhaps you did, but on a manageable level. Counseling can be an opportunity to talk through alot of these frustrations, and challenges. It can be a time to also find out about other resources in the world that can be helpful. Either way, it is YOUR time to figure out what would be helpful, and to get it! Reach out to Rays of Hope, we are eager to assist you during this time! PLEASE NOTE: I ALSO have office hours in Bala Cynwyd, Pa. which is right outside of Phila. near City Line Avenue.

I work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, life transitions, and relationship issues. I understand how trauma, childhood attachment, family of origin dynamics, and harm within our social/cultural/political systems underly many of these struggles. And I know how these painful experiences can disconnect you from yourself, your loved ones, and the joys of life. Together, we will explore the patterns that keep you stuck, understand their roots, and learn new ways of navigating life's challenges. Our work will help you restore a sense of agency and reconnection to your authentic, grounded Self that's innate to us all. My approach is relational, collaborative, and attachment-based. I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR and integrate these models for powerful trauma processing and self-exploration. I support clients to shift from intellectualizing into more experiential understanding of your emotions, body, and life experiences. My clients describe me as warm, attuned, and able to hold them in all of their complexity. I don't view my role as "fixing" or giving advice, but to hold, support, and challenge you to create the changes you want in life. I look forward to getting to know you!

I believe that therapy should set you up to live real life, so I’m all about helping my clients develop coping skills to deal with life’s stressors and challenges. Let’s be honest - fixing all of your problems isn’t very realistic, is it?? I also emphasize being realistic about how our minds work. How many times have you had an unpleasant thought or emotion that you tried to banish from your mind once and for all, just to notice that the thought or emotion came back? That’s why I work with clients to change their relationship with distressing thoughts, emotions, and symptoms instead of trying to avoid or change them. I support my clients in recognizing that as long as we don’t let distressing thoughts and feelings overpower us, we are free to make choices that add up to create a fulfilling life. My therapeutic style is very collaborative and inquisitive. I believe that therapy is a group project between my client and me, meaning that it is important for clients to be engaged in therapy and apply what they learn in therapy to their own lives outside of session. I’m the type of therapist that asks open-ended questions to help my clients make connections between their past and their present lives and between their internal experiences and external environment. Therapy is a long game, so to speak. I believe in the importance in supporting my clients in taking their time to build better understanding of the self, as well as learning helpful coping skills. We’ll go at your pace - there’s no rush!
