Therapists for college students near 19104
Maybe you’ve been through relational trauma, adoption, or foster care, or had to play the “responsible one,” or learned early on to keep the peace, stay perfect, and not take up too much space. Maybe you’re just tired of feeling anxious in relationships, like you’re never quite sure where you stand—or who you’re allowed to be. You deserve support that really gets it. The Therapy Center for Transformative Growth (TCTG) was founded by two adoptees from foster care—also therapists—who couldn’t find the kind of care they needed, so they built it. Our center is a space for anyone navigating complex family dynamics, attachment wounds, identity questions, and the lasting impact of early or repeated loss. We’re especially attuned to supporting college-aged adults, BIPOC folks, LGBTQIA+ communities, and women—people whose stories are often misunderstood, minimized, or ignored altogether. Our therapists help you name what’s been hard, understand how it’s shaped you, and find new ways to move through the world—with more clarity, connection, and compassion for yourself. Therapy with us isn’t about “fixing” you—it’s about helping you come home to yourself.
I specialize in working with clients around self-esteem and self-worth growth and perfectionistic tendencies. I also have extensive experience working with issues such as self-harm, chronic depression, and suicidality.
I work really well with "type A" people with anxiety - those who are pragmatic and practical and used to getting stuff done, but now are finding it harder to make decisions and get as much done as they used to. I also work well with people who are accused of being "robotic" or "without feelings." Couples have claimed to actually enjoy working with me for premarital counseling, or figuring out how to deal with their parents/siblings/friends who might not be in favor of their match. In my office I try to speak plainly and say what needs to be said - you won't feel like you need to watch your language or censor yourself in any way.

OCD Spectrum is led by Dr. Flower, clinical psychologist and OCD/anxiety disorder expert. He is president of OCD Pennsylvania, the state-wide local affiliate of the International OCD Foundation. We specialize in treating obsessive compulsive disorder and the spectrum of similar disorders such as phobias, test anxiety, social anxiety, general anxiety, procrastination, and hair pulling/skin picking. All of our therapists primarily use evidence-based cognitive-behavioral approaches with their patients. Exposure and response prevention therapy, ERP, is the gold standard treatment for OCD and other anxiety disorders and our therapists are experts in this approach as well. We are exclusively doing tele/video therapy at this point due to COVID.

I pride myself on being an empathetic and responsive listener in session. If you chose me as your therapist you can expect me to be casual and allow you to lead the topics of our sessions.
Hi! My name is Shira Collings (she/they). I specialize in working with clients with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image distress, and those wanting to break free from diet culture. As a diet culture dropout myself, I am passionate about supporting others in finding freedom with food and body acceptance. I am also passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent folks, as well as those with substance use and trauma histories. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the Health At Every Size paradigm and body liberation. It is also informed by feminism, disability justice, and queer and trans liberation. I believe that healing comes from feeling heard, seen, and valued, and I strive to create a space in which clients can express their full, authentic selves. I have training in Motivational Interviewing, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. I also have a background working in disability and mental health advocacy and regularly incorporate advocacy into the counseling process. Additionally, I have training in trauma therapies including Narrative Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy. I’d be honored to be a part of your journey! Hi! I’m Irene, and I am happy you are here. If you are neurodivergent woman searching for a therapist, you deserve someone who is non-judgmental and values your uniqueness. Have you been dealing with anxiety, fear, depression or anger? You may be in a partnership with another neurodivergent person, and you struggle with communication, or you may have trouble keeping up with daily life, like taking care of your living space, or doing the laundry. Maybe your children are grown and out of the house, and you are not sure what to do next with your life. All of this may be difficult to navigate. We can work together to make life less challenging. I am passionate about providing a non-judgmental, neuro-affirming therapeutic space for my clients. I have worked in the special education field for years and have collaborated with parents of neurodivergent children. I work with folks who are finding that their life seems to be more difficult than those around them. We can collaborate to support you in a person-centered setting. Counseling is different for each of us, and together we can work to achieve your goals. With my integrative approach, I will meet you where you are in your journey to wellness. We can do this together! Working under the supervision of Colleen Torrey.

I truly believe that everyone has the capacity to grow when they’re in a space that feels safe and accepting. At the heart of my work is building a genuine, trusting connection with you—because real healing begins when you feel truly seen, heard, understood, and accepted. Together, we’ll create a warm and welcoming space where vulnerability is embraced and self-exploration feels comfortable. Above all, I’m here to hold space for you with kindness and openness, honoring your unique needs, passions, experiences, wisdom, and hopes for the future. Specializations I’m especially passionate about supporting adults who grew up with caregivers who, for various reasons, may not have met their emotional needs.Together, we work to heal from those early experiences, find your true voice, clarify what matters most to you, and create a life that feels authentic, grounded, and free. I work with clients ages 15 and up to navigate challenges related to: Childhood relational trauma, emotionally immature parents, & unmet emotional needs Relationship patterns, boundaries, people-pleasing, & guilt Exploring identity, values, & personal growth Identity diffusion & enmeshment Shame, self-doubt, & indecisiveness Life transitions & emerging adulthood Grief & loss Anxiety, depression, & low self-worth Emotional regulation & distress tolerance Could We be a Good Fit? Clients who tend to do well with me often appreciate a little lightheartedness or humor during our sessions and enjoy putting what we talk about into practice between meetings—sometimes through small homework or weekly goals. Many have found it helpful to bring their creative interests into our work, which helps us build a space where you can feel safe, inspired, and free to be your authentic self. I’ve also noticed that adolescents, young adults, and college students often feel especially comfortable and connected in our time together. Therapeutic Approaches My approach to therapy is primarily rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors with curiosity and work toward making the changes you’d like to see in yourself. For those who resonate with this approach, I incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support compassionate exploration of your inner parts. I also use a person-centered and trauma-informed lens, honoring the impact of your life experiences and creating a space where all parts of you are welcome. While CBT and IFS are my go-to methods, I like to keep things flexible, drawing from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to tailor our work to what feels right for you. My hope is that you find a space in therapy that feels human, welcoming, and uniquely yours. If you think we might be a good fit, I’d love to connect and explore how we can work together in a way that supports your growth. I currently offer teletherapy sessions at River Wards Wellness Collective. I view therapy as the process of developing a better understanding of thoughts, emotions and patterns. I utilize a person-centered therapy approach to create a warm, non-judgmental atmosphere where you can feel comfortable and safe. Through the journey of self-discovery, your needs and wants from the therapy process may change. This is why I pull from different evidence-based therapy approaches such as CBT and positive psychology to best fit with your needs at the time. I have experience working with a variety of mental health concerns. However, no two people are the same. Together we will work towards your unique goals utilizing the individual strengths you bring. Deciding to begin therapy can be scary. I will help to illuminate the process and ease your concerns. I am currently accepting new clients. I look forward to hearing from you and starting this journey together.
I am a psychologist with 25+ years of experience working with clients. I see people from 18 and up for therapy and all ages for neuropsychological testing. While testing clients need to be seen in person I am offering video sessions for therapy.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing psychotherapy for college students and young adults in the Pittsburgh area and throughout Pennsylvania via telehealth. Many of the students I work with are dealing with anxiety, academic pressure, relationship challenges, identity questions, and the stress of major life transitions. My approach to therapy is insight-oriented and collaborative. I integrate psychodynamic therapy with practical strategies drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. Therapy provides a space to better understand patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships while developing healthier ways of responding to stress. Students often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Together we work to clarify what is happening beneath the surface, build emotional resilience, and create meaningful change in areas such as anxiety, depression, relationships, and self-confidence. I provide both in-person sessions in Carnegie, Pennsylvania and secure online therapy throughout the U.S. via PSYPACT. Prior to private practice I trained and worked full time at five counseling counseling centers in various cities.
We provide a safe, caring environment with only top-rated specialists. We provide secure online therapy & counseling that fits your life. With a results-based, individualized approach, our goal is to help you heal and become happy again.

I know that making the decision to seek help can bring up difficult feelings, which is why as a therapist I seek to create an honest, authentic, and supportive relationship with my clients. By creating a sense of safety with one another we can work together to address your most immediate concerns, while simultaneously using our time as an opportunity to develop a deeper relationship with yourself and your experiences. I practice from an Existential-Integrative perspective, incorporating elements from psychodynamic, interpersonal and experiential techniques in my work with clients. This approach extends beyond your symptoms and into an exploration of what it means for you to live a fulfilling life, as well as what may be holding you back. Wellness is experienced differently by everyone and together we can explore what it means for you to live well and begin the process of working towards that together. I have experience working with those struggling with experiences of depression, anxiety, and interpersonal concerns.
I believe that a strong therapeutic rapport is the heart of meaningful growth in therapy. When we feel truly seen, heard, and understood, we are better able to explore our experiences, reflect on our patterns, and take steps toward change. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and comfortable to be themselves, no matter what challenges they may be facing. My approach to therapy is person-centered, which means I value each client’s unique perspective and believe that you are the expert of your own life. I work alongside my clients, offering support, guidance, and encouragement as we navigate the journey together. I strive to meet people where they are, honoring their pace while helping them uncover new insights and tools for growth. I hold a Master’s degree in Art Therapy with a Specialization in Counseling and am a Registered Art Therapist. Creativity can be a powerful way to explore feelings and experiences that are difficult to put into words. In sessions, I often incorporate art and the creative process to help clients process emotions, gain clarity, and express themselves in new ways. Whether through drawing, painting, collage, or other forms of artmaking, this approach allows for deeper self-understanding and healing beyond traditional talk therapy. I also bring personal experience to my work, having navigated the loss of my father at a young age. Experiencing grief firsthand has given me a deep understanding of the complexities of loss. This experience informs my approach to grief therapy, allowing me to connect with clients in a compassionate and authentic way. In addition to my art therapy work, I am currently pursuing my Animal-Assisted Therapy Certificate. I am excited to soon integrate my therapy dog-in-training, Bear, into sessions as a comforting and supportive presence. Animals can offer a unique kind of connection and grounding that supports emotional regulation and overall well-being. I have experience working with children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings, including partial hospitalization, inpatient, residential treatment, and outpatient therapy. My specialties include supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and significant life transitions. I am especially passionate about working with clients during times of change—whether it’s starting a new school, transitioning to college, beginning a new career, or navigating changes in relationships or identity. No matter your reason for seeking therapy, my hope is to create an environment where you feel safe to explore your inner world, discover your strengths, and find meaningful ways to move forward.
I provide therapy for young adults and adults struggling with mental health concerns, such as anxiety and depression, personal and family trauma, stress, adjustment disorder, and relationship issues. If you are looking to process through emotions and feelings, reframe negative, defeating thoughts, or make changes to improve your wellbeing, my counseling services may be the right fit for you.
