Healing isn’t easy & taking the first step of seeking a therapist takes a lot of courage. Healing involves being patient & kind with yourself, along with stepping out of your comfort zone in order to talk about tough things so you can grow. Often in life we are faced with many challenges and feel like we are just stuck. Transitioning into college can be a difficult process but with the help of a therapist you can work towards having a more balanced life. My role as your therapist is to help you sort out these emotions and experiences that have you feeling like you are hitting a wall. Together we will work to identify unhealthy patterns and develop skills to help you take control of your life. I offer my clients a person-centered approach, recognizing that the client is the expert of their life. This means that the client is the driver of their sessions and I am the guide. I have extensive experience working with people who experience panic, anxiety, and depression. I also specialize in trauma and I am trained in TFCBT and EMDR. Finding a therapist who you are comfortable with and feel supported by is an important part of the healing process. I look forward to embarking on this journey with you. For nearly 20 years, I have worked with adolescents and young adults who have anxiety, mood disorders, gender identity issues, family conflicts and trauma from many different backgrounds. There is no single case that is identical to another, and everyone has their own unique story. I want to hear your story so that I may join your journey to heal. My main approaches are CBT, Family Systems Theory, EMDR, and somatic approaches. I also incorporate Eastern philosophy and focus on the mind-body connection to assist clients in understanding their challenges and rediscovering their authentic selves. As a person who came to the United States as a teen, I personally understand the pressure to succeed, the challenges to navigate the US college system, and the loneliness that limited resources and guidance that first generation college students go through. I have also advocated for people of color and the LGTBQ+ population in an effort to improve equality and deal with human rights issues many years. I strive to provide a safe environment for all of my clients without judgment. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

You didn’t ask for this—whether it’s a major life change, a new mental health diagnosis, or that frustrating sense of being stuck in the same loop over and over. You may be navigating something unfamiliar: a shift in your identity, a change in your relationships, or a diagnosis that’s left you overwhelmed, confused, or doubting yourself. Maybe you’ve noticed patterns that no longer serve you but haven’t been able to break free from them. You want to feel in control again—or maybe for the first time. And while you might hate what you’re feeling right now, some part of you is ready to figure it out. That’s where I come in. Our work together is collaborative. I’ll meet you with curiosity, honesty, and care—helping you connect the dots, challenge stuck narratives, and build something new. We’ll explore how past experiences might be shaping the present, how your diagnosis fits into the bigger picture, and what tools will actually help you feel more like you again. My clients are open to the therapy process, even when it's hard. They want clarity, relief, and a sense of mastery over their mental health—not just symptom relief, but true understanding. If you’re ready to start, reach out. We can talk about where you are, where you want to be, and how we can get there—together.
Relationships are both the most difficult and the most rewarding things about being human, and they are HARD! I believe very strongly in the power of relationships to heal as well as hurt. I help people look at the relationships in their lives and figure out how to move forward in a new way. I work with all types of relationships. My particular areas of interest include defiant teenagers, self-harm, couples therapy, mindfulness, and trauma work. When the most important relationships in our lives are strong, I believe that we can handle whatever problems life throws at us.
My overall approach to therapy is humanistic. I use compassion and empathy to encourage increased self-awareness and mindfulness. Further, I am a Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Provider. CPT is a powerful treatment developed to treat PTSD and teach you the skills needed to challenge and restructure negative thoughts and process emotions from the trauma.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. I graduated from Widener University where I earned a master’s in Social Work. While at Widener, I completed a certificate in the treatment of trauma. I began my career at Ambrosia Treatment Center, a substance abuse disorder facility. Over the past five years I have worked in all levels of care within the substance use field. I created a program to treat substance use and eating disorders concurrently. After this program I began building a private practice where I work primarily with individuals who have co-occurring eating disorders and substance use. Outside of Guide to Wellness, I help treatment centers across the country implement veterans programs at their facilities. I use a collaborative approach in treatment. I like to meet clients where they are in their lives and work collaboratively with the individual to create an individualized treatment experience. My approach draws heavily from ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy), CBT and exposure therapy. I work to create a trusting, non-judgmental relationship with the individual. I see myself as someone who presents opportunities to the individual and allow them to be the decision maker. I feel my role is to help the individual see the whole picture in their choices.
Welcome! My name is Darlene and I am a seasoned Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience. I hold a BS in Psychology from Rutgers University and an MSW from Simmons University. My specialty is women's wellness and empowerment with a focus on life transitions and adjustment using a mindfulness approach. Other areas of expertise include pregnancy and postpartum, boundary setting, attachment, relationship building, self-discovery and esteem, ADHD management, and LGBTQIA+ wellness. I practice a holistic approach because I believe mental health IS health. I strive to meet individuals where they are most comfortable and focus on their self-identified needs and strengths. Every person is unique and deserves full consideration of their experiences. I am passionate about creating a genuine connection with people grounded in acceptance, mutual respect, and unconditional positive regard. A productive therapeutic relationship should provide validation and empowerment while guiding you on your healing path. I am here for you.
I am passionate about helping individuals on their path to self-discovery and leading a genuine and authentic life. Drawing upon my background in counseling and neuroscience, I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and existentialism into my approach. I also offer Psychedelic Harm Reduction and Integration therapy. I aim to help individuals cultivate openness, awareness, and engagement with themselves, their loved ones, and the world around them. By incorporating meditation, relevant literature, art, and nature, I aim to create a holistic therapeutic experience. These elements enrich the exploration of subjective experiences, self-perception, and the profound aspects of existence. ACT emphasizes acceptance of one's thoughts, emotions, and experiences, while also encouraging commitment to taking meaningful action aligned with one's values. In our sessions, I guide individuals to develop psychological flexibility, allowing them to respond more effectively to life's challenges and pursue a rich and purposeful life. While I am excited to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, I have a special interest in supporting those who experience chronic conditions such as pain, grief, psychosis, and trauma. Together, we will delve into meaningful discussions about topics like death, identity, and the transformative potential within each person's existence.
