Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
I hold an enduring belief in the innate capacity of individuals to grow, heal, and transform. At times, we all lose sight of our core selves and may need help returning back to our true, unburdened nature. In our sessions, I work to create a safe environment where you will develop insight, strengthen inner resources, and increase self-compassion. My work is deeply relational and grounded in the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model. Through collaboration, we will design a therapy that best suits your needs - bringing warmth, curiosity, and respect into the therapeutic space. My practice centers on helping individuals and couples, with a focus on complex trauma, anxiety, and depression. I also work well with those experiencing challenges with relationships, gender and sexuality, body image, creative blocks and addictions. No matter where you are starting from, our work together will always deepen your connection to yourself. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the largest factor in facilitating change, so I understand the importance of finding the right fit. I look forward to meeting you and exploring how we can work together to help you lead a more satisfying and meaningful life. Email is preferred for initial contact
Welcome! I am currently accepting new clients. Do you feel like you are just going through the motions to get through each day? Are you depressed, anxious, or losing hope that things will get better? If you are looking to create a life that you are able to enjoy again, let's chat. I foster a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental therapy space to ensure that my clients are able to share their experiences in confidence. With over ten years of experience in the mental health field, I am committed to supporting my clients as they cope with changes in mood, life transitions, and/or substance use. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and my approach is warm, yet direct, with the intent to guide you to identify and meet your goals. You don't have to do this alone. I have weekday and evening session availability via telehealth. I am happy to answer any questions that you have about the therapy process to help you feel more comfortable. In addition to eclectic psychotherapy, I provide Internal Family Systems work and a variety of psychodramatic and hypnotic methods in my practice. I have worked with individuals, couples and families for over 4 decades. My belief is that people are complicated and do not fit into simplistic, diagnostic categories. My experience informs me when a therapist (or teacher) believes in your basic goodness and capabilities, you can do more than you ever thought you could.. The initial interview is of the therapist at no charge. Most insurances are accepted. Appointments are limited but available at this time.
Every person has his or her own unique story and path to follow. We all have phases of joy and success, pain and suffering. No one is exempt from experiencing a whole range of emotions. I am here to help guide you to make the changes you wish and to liberate yourself from old patterns that no longer serve you. It would be a privilege for me to witness these meaningful changes in your life prompted by our work together in therapy. I specialize in working with college and graduate students, and young adults struggling with stress, anxiety, test anxiety and school and work problems. I have much experience working with culturally diverse clients. I have also 12 years of experience in behavioral sciences research. I provide therapy in English and Spanish. I am currently providing only Telemedicine. It's easier for me to respond via email. Please contact me by Email at evelyn.stein.lmhc@gmail.com
My offer to you something is simple and steady: a space where you do not have to perform, impress, or hold it all together. A space where you can exhale. I am especially drawn to working with people in transition especially college students standing on the edge of adulthood and professionalism. Transitions can shake your confidence. They can stir up old shame, old stories, old fears about not being enough. But they are also sacred turning points. They are invitations. Together, we will slow down and tune in. We will examine the narratives you’ve inherited and gently decide which ones no longer serve you. My hope for you is not that you leave therapy “better," but that you leave more fully yourself. I believe healing happens when someone sits with you long enough for you to remember your own strength. I will meet you with depth, honesty, humor and warmth. I will challenge you when needed, celebrate you when earned, and hold the mirror steady when you forget who you are. You do not have to worry alone. Everyone has a story. I look forward to hearing yours.

I am an experienced psychotherapist (LICSW) and Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP) working with individuals, couples and groups. I hold a PhD in biochemistry, which informs my work in psychotherapy by integrating current research in neurobiology into my treatment approach. I specialize in attachment trauma, loss, relationship issues, challenging life transitions and the negative coping styles that often accompany them. The therapy session is a time and space one sets aside to focus on self. To be with self. And to build one’s self. It can be challenging to reflect on patterns, thoughts and emotions, relationships, past events and/or change, but it can also be transformative and rewarding. My role as your therapist is to witness your process and to reflect back with you along the way. The therapeutic relationship is an essential piece of my practice and is built on honesty, trust, empathy, and compassion. In conjunction with traditional psychotherapeutic frameworks (CBT, DBT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic), I use Expressive Arts Therapy (Movement, Drama, Music/Sound, Art) to help foster a creative process. When applied therapeutically, a creative process can help a person heal, open up to change, and may offer new feelings, thoughts, insights, and perspectives As a Dance/Movement Therapist, I specialize in using movement as a tool to identify, explore, and shift the way one relates to self, other, and the world around. I believe engaging in an integrative, body based psychotherapy process is a direct and effective path to embodied growth and transformation.

Beginning therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if you haven't done it before. My goal is to allow you to feel comfortable as you transition into therapy by being warm, transparent, patient and affirming. I take a person centered approach which means I listen nonjudgmentally so you feel understood and supported in sessions. I meet clients where they are at and empower clients to decide what they want to focus on in sessions. I have primarily worked with young adults in my career. My experience allows me to adjust my approach to meet the unique circumstances of my clients and assist clients in times of crisis. Clients I serve often struggle to maintain stable relationships, need assistance navigating life transitions, and coping with their emotions.
