Therapists for college students near New York, NY
When life feels unpredictable or overwhelming, therapy offers a space to pause and find your footing. Balancing academic pressure, family expectations, and questions about identity can feel especially heavy. I work with students navigating transitions such as starting a new school, adjusting to college, graduating, or finding their place in demanding environments. Therapy with me is a supportive, judgment-free space where you can openly explore stress, identity, relationships, past experiences, and self-doubt. Together, we’ll build coping tools, confidence, and self-compassion, so you don’t have to carry everything on your own.
Hello, My name is Lauren Pezzo and I am the owner of Dedicated Peace. I am a solo practitioner seeing clients remotely. I treat a variety of ages from 13 - 55+ and I am most familiar with Mood Disorders (Depression, Anxiety, Bi-Polar, Panic, etc). I have worked with individuals with a history of trauma be it recent or in the past. I do well with relationship issues, couples sessions and handling familial conflict. I am very big on clients learning to change their narrative. Meaning being open to changing the various stories we tend to tell and sell ourselves over the years. I want to help people think in the grey area of life and be open to challenging narrow thinking we may have become accustomed to.
Whether you’re navigating major life changes, struggling with anxiety, exploring your identity or simply looking for a space to better understand yourself, I'm here to help you build the skills, confidence and awareness needed to create meaningful change. I am here to give you an opportunity to find support on your journey of self-exploration. I work with my clients to feel comfortable and confident as they move through life outside of the therapy space. I empower my clients to help themselves, build resilience, and grow through life’s challenges. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. I draw on my experience across diverse cultural communities and age groups, with a particular focus on first and second generation immigrants, teens and young adults and the LGBTQ+ population.
I tend to work best with college students and young adults who look “high-functioning” on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. Many of the students I see are smart, reflective, and trying hard — yet struggling with anxiety, mood swings, burnout, panic, or a constant feeling of pressure to perform or hold everything together. You might feel stuck between who you were expected to be and who you’re becoming. You may overthink conversations, feel emotionally exhausted, struggle with motivation, or feel disconnected from yourself or others. Some students I work with have experienced past stress or trauma that still shows up in their body — through anxiety, sleep issues, emotional shutdown, or feeling on edge — even if “nothing bad” seems to be happening now. In therapy, we move at your pace. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear goal right away. My approach is supportive, curious, and collaborative — focused on helping you understand what’s happening beneath the surface and develop tools that actually feel usable in real life. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, feel less alone, and build steadiness during a demanding and uncertain chapter of life. I will be getting credentialed with additional insurances and accepting private pay-please feel free to check back or reach out if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Have you arrived at a point in your life where carrying so much emotional and mental weight is becoming significant in your life? These challenges can present as feeling stuck and/or experiencing depression, anxiety & more. I believe arriving to Self can happen by showing up completely through the internal work that focuses on awareness, connection, mindfulness, ancestral wisdom, and community. I work with individuals seeking alignment who are open to an integrative approach to therapy. Our partnership explores a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences. Your unique story is approached with the desired goals and changes that can bring balance into your life. I offer a culturally humble and holistic approach along with evidence-based modalities as well as holistic modalities (teachings from Yoga, Reiki, and plant medicine). Therapy can be a powerful way to help you delve into the deep, inner work that helps one develop awareness of intergenerational patterns and traumas that may keep you stuck in the past and struggling to thrive in the present. Healing yourself means healing community - congratulations in making the step towards embodying the wholeness and truth of you!

I'M A FIRM BELIEVER in the health of one's mind being a crucial factor in their ability to meet the demands of everyday life. It becomes a harder task to address stressful situations if you're already not feeling well. Think about moments when you might not have been able to focus at work, successfully study for an exam, or even effectively communicate your concerns to others due to how you felt mentally and physically. MY WORK AS A THERAPIST ENTAILS consistent problem-solving, reasoning, exploring, investigating, learning, and healing. I provide compassionate, supportive, encouraging, and challenging therapy that facilitates and promotes growth for people who seek to improve the quality of their lives. Reflecting on one's actions, highlighting the importance of self-awareness, and offering advisement on ways to improve the overall health of one's lifestyle are a few ways by which I aid individuals in achieving an enhanced experience of life. THROUGH THESE MEANS, the ability to focus at work becomes a bit easier, studying for an exam is not such a harrowing feat and effectively expressing your needs feels like more of a natural practice. All the while, paying special attention to your improved health both mentally and physically.
I work with LGBTQ+ folks and anyone navigating trauma, OCD, anxiety, perfectionism, or big life transitions... like college students who are panic googling "what am I doing with my life??" at 2am. If you want to make sense of it all without judgment, basic "talk therapy," or silent nods behind a clipboard and want a therapist who keeps things chill, real, and sometimes even funny - I'm your girl. Whether you're spiraling over every “what if,” feeling stuck in patterns that stem from the past, or feeling like you’re losing your mind trying to figure out who you are & where you’re going, we'll work through this together.
Ever feel like you're losing the grip on this thing we call "Life?" That things are just too overwhelming, confusing and like you need some answers or guidance? Or maybe you just need to re-find your footing? Get some help with this new transition of college/dorm life, relationships, adulthood? Dealing with loneliness, anxiety, depression, stress, time management, lack of confidence and motivation or simply want someone to talk to who might "get it" and doesn't beat around the bush? That's where I come in! My vision for success is to provide a warm, understanding, supportive, matter-of-fact, & open-minded environment to help you reach your goals and improve your life. I'm not afraid to be silly and/or think outside the box. Sometimes, that's exactly what you need.

We are helping to serve those who are in crisis, or have been historically underserved, by eliminating the most significant treatment barriers: geographical and financial access. We work with nearly all commercial insurance nationwide and have no waitlist, thereby helping people access quality, evidence-based care regardless of insurance, location, or other barriers.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who is based in New York and passionate about helping others. I believe in community care, liberation, growth, joy, resilience, healing, and justice. The trauma we experience can make us feel so disconnected and dissociated while also craving connection and warmth. I am here to invite and support you in exploring connections to yourself, your communities, and the world around you. Through understanding our intersectional identities, we can start to process and unpack the ways we struggle to show up for ourselves and each other. Healing is a process that takes time, authenticity, and gentle care. My experiences and work are shaped by my identities, how I create and sustain joy, and community. I find it incredibly fulfilling to continuously build relationships through empathy, curiosity, and compassion. My areas of focus include trauma, relationships, life transitions, grief, polyamory/non-monogamy, kink/BDSM, and other alternative lifestyles. I am a queer, trans/nonbinary, neurodivergent, 2nd generation Chinese American. My approach is rooted in liberation and relational work through anti-oppressive and social justice lenses. I draw from modalities such as psychodynamics, somatic work, narrative therapy, and mindfulness. Please reach out for a free consultation to see if we would be a good fit.

“When we are no longer able to change a situation… we are challenged to change ourselves.” Viktor Frankl The college experience is a journey filled with ups and downs. This period of our lives can be overwhelming, and bring up different emotions, including depression, anxiety, and loneliness. My practice centers on creating a safe and nurturing space for you to explore what is going on with you; your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, desires, strengths, and challenges. We will work collaboratively to move away from feelings like shame and guilt to make space for self-compassion, acceptance and growth. Together we will explore underlying challenges or barriers to reaching your hopes and goals and work through any blockages that come along the way. If you are new to therapy, you are welcome here! It can be an intimidating process to seek help - I hope to be a guide and support on your journey. I approach my sessions with a dynamic and interpersonal lens as we work together to explore your internal and external landscapes. Together, we will identify any barriers or unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behaviors, and then identify strategies and tools to help you disrupt unhealthy cycles. I believe in the power of authentic human connection and I employ a warm, direct, humanistic and solution-focused approach with clients. Our time together will focus on developing a deep understanding of who you are, what you want to work on in a judgment free environment that will help you engage in your work meaningfully and vulnerably.
I believe who you are matters. You’re a deep feeler, a critical thinker, & someone who’s carried a lot for a long time. Perhaps you are the “black sheep”, someone who has felt unseen, unheard, or unworthy for most of your life. You’ve learned how to keep going, but lately, you’re exhausted. You’re realizing that surviving isn’t enough anymore. You might be navigating anxiety, burnout, dissociation, grief, identity transitions, or complex trauma. You may feel stuck in cycles of self-abandonment, masking, or perfectionism. You want to feel safe in your body, connected to your truth, & be free to live more fully - not just function. You’re looking for a therapist who is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming, and deeply attuned to the realities of navigating systems that weren’t built for you. You want support that’s holistic, anti-oppressive, and rooted in nervous system regulation, attachment work, and deep respect for your autonomy. I work from a trauma-informed, shame-sensitive, and strengths-based lens. I draw on your values, your lived experiences, and your inner resilience to co-create a path toward healing. I help clients break out of survival mode, heal from internalized shame and systemic harm, and reconnect with a sense of safety, authenticity, and agency.
Welcome to your therapy journey, or welcome back! Now that you’re here, what do you discuss? How do you begin that conversation about mental health and wellness? As your therapist, I will immerse you in the therapy experience and provide a safe space for you to talk about yourself and what you’re looking for. In my work, I am a queer-affirming therapist who takes a relational approach to therapy, where I encourage you to explore your past relationships and reflect upon how they may have impacted you now. I treat anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, life transitions, and negative self-esteem, and work with a diverse range of clients like college students, adults, and individuals in BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities. I have experience working in various clinical settings and previously worked at LaGuardia Community College's Wellness Center where I learned how to navigate a college counseling environment while providing care for hard-working students experiencing academic-related concerns. Outside of therapy, I am an artist, a social justice advocate, and an animal lover. If you are interested in booking with me, please schedule an appointment through Greenpoint Psychotherapy’s website. If you are a provider, feel free to email me or send a referral and I will respond accordingly.
I seek to help people manage the challenges they are facing and make real changes in their lives. In our work together, we will set goals, build a deeper understanding of maladaptive patterns, and learn more ways to manage the stress in your life. My specialty areas include anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, and parenting. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with specialized training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I offer individual, couples, and family therapy to adults and children of all ages. Convenient evening and weekend appointments are available to accommodate your schedule. I graduated from Columbia University with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and trained at NYU Child Study Center, Columbia University Medical Center and New York State Psychiatric Institute. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at New York Presbyterian-Westchester, where I gained further expertise in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for the treatment of depression and anxiety. I strive to maintain a warm and non-judgmental stance in therapy. I believe strongly in the collaborative process and will work actively with you to help achieve your therapeutic goals. I am happy to speak with you about any questions or concerns you may have about beginning therapy.
I'm so glad you've started this journey to improve your mental wellbeing. I know how difficult beginnings can be—I’ve worked with a number of first-time and returning therapy clients from backgrounds as diverse as New York City itself. I particularly enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ clients and people with disabilities and neurodivergences. I do my best to honor your cultural experience as we tackle some of life’s biggest challenges together: depression and anxiety, trauma and grief, chronic illness and medical issues, relationship difficulties and life transitions, and problematic drug use or other behaviors that may no longer be serving you. My own career began in worker organizing, then moved into community social work and social policy research. I have a deep appreciation for how relationships and social realities impact mental health and prioritize a relational and social change-oriented approach. Disability justice, racial justice, and gender justice are core tenets of my practice. My work is also influenced by my own experiences as a therapy client: I strive to be as transparent as possible about what we’re doing and why, so you can be a full partner on the journey and never feel left in the dark. Above all, I am person-centered: I start by learning who you are as an individual, your strengths and challenges, and then figure out which clinical approaches can work best for you. I often draw from Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and am pursuing further training in these modalities. I very much look forward to meeting you and taking this journey together!
