Dr. Aw's primary interest is the intersection between mental and physical health. Dr. Aw’s philosophy is that one does not exist outside the other. Furthermore, depression and anxiety in patients who are also suffering from medical issues can feel significantly worse, and it is his goal to get patients on a holistic road to recovery. An ideal patient for Dr. Aw understands that it takes a team to get them feeling better, and it is a collaboration between the patients themselves and Dr. Aw.
College and graduate school can stretch you academically, mentally, and emotionally. When stress, burnout, or self-doubt start to pile up, that stretch can feel more like a breaking point. I work with students to navigate anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, trauma, life transitions, and challenges that can come with disability. I also support people adjusting to new environments, including the shift from rural backgrounds into more urban, academic settings. Together, we’ll look at where you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed and build practical skills to help you clear those hurdles and reconnect with what matters to you. My approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). In practice, this means we’ll use a blend of tools to help you understand your thoughts and reactions, make sense of your experiences, and respond in ways that feel more manageable and effective. I will tailor our work to your personal goals, because your idea of accomplishment is what matters to me. If you’re interested, we can also bring in elements of Geek Therapy® (using movies, games, or other examples of popular culture) to make therapy feel more relatable and engaging. If you’ve been dealing with mental fatigue, cognitive overload, or a life-altering diagnosis, you don’t have to figure it out on your own. We can work together to help you feel more balanced, confident, and prepared for your next chapter, whether that’s graduation or the following academic term. Reaching out can be the most difficult step in this process. Let’s start a conversation and design a treatment plan just for you.
Therapy can be an intimidating journey, and getting started can often feel overwhelming. My hope is to build a therapeutic relationship that feels open, trusting, and supportive, so we can really focus on the challenges that have brought you to this point. Navigating young adulthood can be exhilarating and exciting, but can also lead to fear, worry, and challenges related to leaving home, taking on new roles, and learning about the world in a new way. Sometimes this transition can be hard as you figure out and learn about the different parts of yourself in emerging adulthood. I am excited to walk alongside you as you take this new step towards growth and healing. I believe my clients are experts on their lived experience. I believe my clients deserve trauma informed, inclusive, and affirming care.
Our Mission is to help clients reach their full potential. Everyone has their capacity for happiness and we want to help you find it. We believe that everyone can create a happy, healthy life, but it takes hard work and is not just handed to us. Happiness comes from creating connection to ourselves, our environments, our purpose, and others. We help adults looking for assistance in improving their lives and breaking through old patterns of behaviors. We help those looking for direction, purpose, and answers to questions about their experiences. People ask themselves why they keep having the same things happen over and over in their life, we can help figure out those patterns and help to eliminate them so that you can move forward.

I believe that a trusting relationship with you is of the utmost importance. During our time together I will work to create an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance so you feel free sharing and exploring whatever is troubling you. My approach is a trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive integration of attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive therapy which emphasizes (1) trusting the client as an expert of their own reality, (2) exploring the patterns through which we come to understand ourselves, others, and the world, and (3) seeking meaningful emotional experiences in a safe therapeutic relationship. I will work to build a supportive, trusting, and safe relationship with you so you can bravely identify and confront the challenges you're facing. My integrative approach is strengths based and person centered with elements of evidence based approaches including CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, and EMDR. I have extensive experience working with adolescents, teens and young adults who are dealing with anxiety, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, depression, parenting issues, life transitions, effects of trauma and relationship struggles. Whether you're navigating relationship challenges, major life transitions, trauma, anxiety, or depression, I’m glad you’re here seeking support. Rather than focusing on happiness as a fixed goal, I help clients explore what fulfillment means in the context of their lives. Fulfillment allows space for the full range of emotional experiences supports a more honest, grounded way of engaging with yourself and the world. ClinicalApproach I bring a systems-oriented lens to our work together, considering how our early relationships and life experiences shape our current sense of self, the way we connect with others, and how we move through the world. My integrative approach draws from several evidence-based modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) But above all, I'm client-centered. I've seen what happens when therapy gets too rigid or robotic, when the humanity of it gets lost. That’s not what you’ll get with me. I’ll use evidence-based methods and also meet you with honesty, care, and a good sense of when to push and when to pause.
